Y'all may recall that I started the thread about emulation and (originally) early Microsoft history. The person who made the original assertion just doesn't want to give up -- I sincerely think that he has Microsoft and maybe even Gates on some kind of pedestal or something -- and has followed up with the following here on the WELL:
If Microsoft's Altair BASIC was not the first microcomputer program developed using an emulator, what was?
Since I don't know the answer, I thought I'd forward this to the list.
I _would_ like to observe that my memory of events is that Gates/Allen had access to emulation through a college or university computer science department and it was *that* free computer time which was the deciding factor for them, not any advanced thinking about getting a product to market faster or anything else (as the above-quoted person has elsewhere claimed). But my memory could be faulty on this point, as it's been over 20 years now.......
