After receiving comments from several cyhist members, I learned that there already exist some very good archives of emulators. Two good starting points are:
For macintosh (from: "Michael J. Lavery" <Emjay@dorsai.org>)
http://emulation.net
For myriad platforms (from: "Kip Crosby, CHAC" <engine@chac.org>):
http://www.chac.org/chhistpg.html#HistPg_Emul
A very good page of emulators sorted by platforms (from: David Benn <ace@vision.net.au>):
http://www.freeflight.com/fms/comp/
These existing efforts are very good, and I am unsure whether we can add more to them, except by perhaps including original documentation. What I will do in the meantime is build links out of the Community Memory home page to these emulator pages.
Be forewarned, however, downloading one of these emulators is a dangerous prospect-- you can easily spend several days playing with them.
best,
