The evolution of computer language is one of the most significant ongoing events in human history. It will eventually become a major field of study for what it implies about not only human language but all mental processes. I do not know of histories of this evolution other than those written on a superficial level. If someone can recommend a book that attempts to probe this development more deeply I would greatly hearing of it. I'm sure a lot is hidden within funding proposals and papers in professional literature which may be difficult to access both physically and mentally. But in any case, I feel that this type of forum can become an important source of information for future scholars. Those of you who did participate in this venture, especially in non-academic environments, can offer comments about thoughts, motivations, overviews and so on, now tempered by your subsequent experience, and and I for one would be very interested in hearing about them.
