I was thinking it might be interesting for us to create a repository of existing emulators, and place them all on the Community Memory web site. We could create a kind of historical time line of computers, beginning with whatever the first computer is (<--- can of worms?), up to the present (or rather earliest existing emulator out there). Except here each machine in the timeline would also exist as a link to an emulator application. Follow the link and download the emulator. We could even associate documentation with each one. Over time this could grow into a very interesting resource. Is this something some of you would like to contribute to?
It will be very difficult for me to put this together in the near future, because of work, but if someone on the list is interested in being the point-person on collecting URLs of emulators, once they are sorted from oldest machine to most recent, I can put the page up on our web site, and store copies of the emulators on the server here. Then later we can fill them up with documentation. Please send me mail directly to davidsol@panix.com if you are interested in helping, rather than to the list.
best,
