Professional Student?

Even though I'm a student, being a townie gives me the perspective of permanent Morgantown residents. I revel in the mass exodus of students for Thanksgiving and spring break and the summers, and I quietly mourn Morgantown's empty streets when the students return. I love to use the rec center and library when the students are gone. One of my favorite campus spots is the Robinson reading room in the Wise Library in the summer-- I like to pretend that I'm a rich eccentric with her own personal library when I'm the only soul in the giant room, lined with books and filled with reading lamps and sofas.

Professional Dwellings

Sometimes it seems like the students and professionals are at war in South Park. I feel like a hypocrite rooting for the professionals when I myself am a student, but I justify fighting on the professional side because I am a townie. Morgantown is my town, and I don't appreciate the litter, noise, and vomit piles some students create any more than the older, working residents of Morgantown. In some ways, I feel like South Park should be inaccessible to students to keep in from turning into another Sunnyside. But, of course, if that happened, I wouldn't be able to live here.

Notable Professional Houses

Two of my favorite non-student houses are the cow house and the pink house. But another house which I'm attached to is a mansion on Grand Street, which was home to my friend Sandi, a student, for a year.
