First Job

Domino's Pizza was my first real job. As a college student who expected to make minimum wage, I decided that any job where I would work had to provide at least one of three benefits in addition to the meager pay: food, exercise, or time to do homework. At Domino's I could eat all the pizza I wanted, and I got exercise by walking around and hanging flyers and coupons on doors. I figured two out of three wasn't bad.

Paying the Bills

I worked at Domino's out of the necessity of paying my rent. It was about a block away from my first apartment, too, so the location was ideal. And I gained popularity by hooking up friends with free pizza (under the table) or 50% off legitimately-placed orders.

Even with these benefits, the job was one of the worst I've had (and there have been many). I would come home smelling like cornmeal and grease after busy nights of my manager's "encouragement" of "C'mon guys! Let's make these drivers some money!" (As an "insider," I never made tips, no matter how many pizzas I made a night.)

I guess everyone has to start somewhere, though.

To see other videos, go to historic or streets and houses, or go back to my space.
