sun room

Evolution

In 1990, this was an open air porch off the family room with a grey-painted concrete floor, a very old wrought iron table and chairs (painted green) with a glass top, and a grapevine that wrapped around the porch posts creating three walls.

Result

I miss the grapevine, but it had to come down to make room for interior/exterior walls and eight windows. We tiled the floor in 12x12 beige/white squares.

The Furnishings:

  • Two brown wicker chairs w/wine cushions
  • A wicker settee w/ matching wine cushion
  • A slate coffee table rests on a bamboo rug between the furniture
  • A wine bar is located on the left wall

The exterior walls of the sun room are white wainscoting on the bottom half and wide shelved silled windows line the top half.

Story

This room entertains noise and solitude equally as well. I gravitate to this room with the morning sun, a glass of orange juice, my devotional, and the newspaper. When we have parties, we throw open the French doors and the sun room quickly fills with the overflow of guests from the family room.
