MY STUDY

My “study” is the room in my apartment in which I complete the majority of the tasks assigned to me by my various professors. The small room is enclosed by four walls intersecting at right angles to each other. The wall containing the entrance and the wall directly across from it are of equal length and are longer than the two remaining walls. The two remaining walls are also of equal length, yet shorter than the two aforementioned walls. These walls create a rectangular shape. The ceiling and floor enclose the room completely from the surroundings.

Off-white paint covers the walls and ceiling, including the crown molding . There is a small stress crack in the paint on the wall above the right upper corner of the door; the product of the enduring weight placed upon it by the apartment above ours and its contents. Small nicks and dents scattered across the walls attest to the many hours of life spent in the room.

Finished, wooden trim outlines the door frame, the windows and the base of the walls where they intersect the floor. These baseboards appear dull due to the coating of dust that has collected on their surfaces. For some unknown reason, we always neglect the baseboards while cleaning. The floor is clothed in multi-colored, neutral Berber carpeting which, unlike the baseboards, is spotless since we tend not to neglect the carpets when we clean.

Inside this hollow shell I've just described lies my life here in Morgantown. Follow the links throughout to get a glimpse into my study and all its hidden treasures! If you'd like, you can also take a virtual peek inside the study by clicking here
