extreme temperature fluctuations I generally tend to experience
It seems as though regardless of the thermostat setting or the temperature in the study, I am never sufficiently warm/cool. There is no happy medium where my body temperature is concerned. While working at the computer I experience random chills, incessant shivers, and/or moments of unbearable hotness in random combinations with each other. This doesn't happen in any other room in the apartment, nor at any other location that comes to mind at the moment. The only explanation I can conjure for these temperature fluctuations is passion.
In my study, I work. For the most part, I am passionate about the work I do. When I get so intensely caught up in the work that I am doing that I feel my fingers can not keep up with the thoughts being formed by my brain, I tend to get hot. For example, I am currently completing a Native American studies course in which I am learning about the real history of our nation. Each week, I complete a recation paper to the topics discussed during class. These reactions are extremely intense, as I can not fathom the way these human beings were treated. The terrible images and stories presented in class regarding the removal of Indians from their lands are horrifying and spark a heated reaction from me. Information and thoughts run through my head too quickly for me to record them all. Then, I eventually get "caught up" with my brain and I relax a bit. This is when I tend to cool down and get chills. Perhaps that partially explains why this only happens in my study and not in all the rooms in my apartment.
In addition to the thermostat, aside from the paint, trim, windows and imperfections etched into the paint throughout the process of living, five objects adorn the walls and ceiling of my study. Three are electrical outlets protected by tan colored face plates, the fourth is a white smoke detector mounted from the ceiling, and the fifth a light switch of the same color as the outlets. Another frequently adjusted gadget on my study walls is the smoke detector.
