exercise bench
Four large pieces of furniture rest in different areas of my study. The first piece of furniture is placed directly to the left of the entrance and serves the sole purpose of storing the various items we drop there upon entering the room. Originally, three shelves composed this piece of furniture. However, the top shelf is now non-existent due to a friend’s assumption that he could safely sit upon it. Needless to say, he was wrong, and the shelf was unable to support his weight. The remaining two shelves are unusually uncluttered at the moment except for a single flashlight that was recently used to locate a missing object.
The next two pieces of furniture in the room are the computer desk and the chair that matches it. The desk houses the computer, monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers, web-cam, microphone and printer. In addition to these, a stack of printer paper is stored on one of the shelves for easy access when printing out assignments or other pieces.
The last piece of furniture is a rarely used exercise bench surrounded by various weights and bars. The main function of this bench is a storage shelf for hats, clothes, papers and other undistinguished items. It never sees the uses it was intended and designed for.
This exercise bench is actually designed more like a table or shelf than a piece of exercise equipment, in my opinion. The flat bench is supported by four posts or legs and its surface is flat with tiny indentations that act as tread or grips. This design makes it ideal for storing random objects that would otherwise end up on the floor and inevitably in the dog's mouth. Besides, we have access to a multi-million dollar work-out facility any time we so desire to use it. Why not find alternative use for a measley weight bench that can only assist in a limited number of exercises?
